  • Gustavo Faria - Tabula Rasa says:

I was literally learning Korean on Lingodeer when the notification for this video came out. Korean is such a lovely language.

  • sophia isabelle says:

We will always support your channel. Your insights are the best.

  • Hamid Ala says:

love learning Korean love the drama that got me I learning a Korean art song

  • Gustavo Faria - Tabula Rasa says:

Olly, a sugestion if I may: do more videos on languages from West Africa, such as Yoruba, Igbo and Wolof. I was learning Igbo awhile ago and I had a blast doing it. It would be great to have you comment on those lesser (at least when compared to popular languages such as French and German) learned languages. 😊

  • Olly Richards says:

Ever wonder just how hard Korean is to learn? 👉🏼 https://youtu.be/afAbWESe8lU

  • Georgina Toland says:

It takes only a single afternoon to learn how to read Korean. The Korean alphabet is one of the best, if not the best, alphabets of the world’s languages. Hangul for the win! **chef’s kiss**

    • Perfil do YouTube says:

This may be true, but it still counted as among the hardest languages for English speakers to learn, among Japanese, Chinese and Arabic. So the alphabet would likely be least of your problems when learning Korean 😂

  • τέλος says:

I am currently on my 2nd month of learning korean and already learned 1000 words and basic grammar. I was getting a bit demotivated and this video just popped up.

  • Shen A says:

Bro, you need to stop reading my mind. Every time there’s a language or culture I start dwelling in, you upload a “Reasons to learn [language]” the next day.

Already happened with German, Latin, Spanish, and now Korean.

    Great vids btw. 😊

  • Annette D says:

Once I get Spanish together in my mind…I will try Korean. (It looks really challenging tho.)

  • Cheryl Schaeffer says:

I’ve been studying Korean for about 3 years and love it. I will say this, in the Korean language learning community, Duolingo is considered a poor resource (it’s better for other languages). Also, as of this week, Korea has mostly done away with Korean age so people will not be aging 1 year on New Year’s Day after eating Rice Cake Soup 떡국. You probably recorded this before the change.

    • Jeff w says:

“Also, as of this week, Korea has mostly done away with Korean age” doubt this will stick. The gov can pass whatever rules they want. They’ve been trying for a long time but I don’t know a Korean that doesn’t use the traditional age system, and I lived in Seoul for a decade. If it’s it that prevalent in Seoul, I can only imagine how much more it’s held onto outside of the capital.

    • Cheryl Schaeffer says:

@jeffw7382  you might want to watch the video done by Hyunwoo and Yeji from Talk to Me in Korean where they talk about it and answer questions. There are 4 areas where Korean age is continuing to be used, but mostly it’s been stopped. And many Koreans, especially younger ones, are happy.

  • George Knight says:

I really would like a book of short stories in Hindi.

  • Maximilian v says:

    Amazing video, keep it up!

  • P. says:

As someone who lived in Korea for six years and studied at Yonsei Korean Language Institute (연세한국어학당), I enjoy seeing Korean getting the popularity it deserves!

  • Mike says:

When you gonna do a 90 day Korean challenge? I know you’ve just been itching to do more after the Michel Thomas recordings.

  • RunningRiot says:

That’s interesting I was debating learning Korean recently and I’m currently studying cyber security for a better job I was not expecting to hear that CS point, that’s interesting.

  • Perfil do YouTube says:

I’ve used your books to help me with french and italian, but I’ve never commented in any of your videos.

Love your vibe, Olly. God bless.

  • Calvin Limuel says:

16:52 except there is a critically endangered language called Jeju language spoken in Jeju Island, and another persistent Middle Korean dialect called Ryukjin (Yukjin in South Korean Standard Korean) spoken around the China-North Korea border.

  • Кирилл Ласточкин says:

By the way you’re right that’s South Korea 🇰🇷 is wonderful country together with amazing technologies and lovely cities which look really great and unforgettable, also I think these different movies in this the language really wonderful, but the main reason I think that’s will visit to this the amazing country and speak together with other local people.

  • Mirae says:

Yeah, I’m proud of being fluent in Korean 😊
