What are the key elements to consider when comparing your own translation to an already translated website? The text is not the same, so I don’t see how you could compare both. Thanks in advance!

    • Jad Sinoradzka says:

I am going to do this exercise this month (great idea btw) and so I am only guessing here: yes the text will be different but you should be able to see how some else translated certain words, idioms, even grammar and assess who’s version was ‘better’. It may be difficult, as we often think our version is the best one, but I often see this myself when comparing my translations with others that my ‘best translation’ isn’t always the best one. This is when I feel I am learning. Good luck 🙂

    • s.gurdiel says:

@Jad Sinoradzka thank you so much!! I got it 😊

I just found your channel and it’s a goldmine! I’m still studying to be a translator but I want to learn as much as I can. Thanks for the tips on how to improve!

  • Gabriel Ramos says:

Does anyone know where I can get formal texts with difficult words to start practicing?

    • Freelance Translator Tips says:

This depends on your language combination and your specialization. But if you work in European languages and specialize in Legal translations you can check out this page: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/ for European laws in all EU languages.

    Man, Thanks for this.

I’m unemployed now and I’ve been searching for a job in my field of work, that is ‘English Teacher’. I’m still finishing my first graduation in Pedagogy, but I intend to study more and work as a Translator, either for Websites or Real-time translator.

Do you think I can earn some money by doing what you proposed on this video?

  • RoboMint says:

This is encouraging and I look forward to trying this method.

Edit: just out of curiosity, are you a native speaker in both English and Italian? You said you were Italian but your American accent is perfect. Did you grow up in the States? I hope this isn’t too personal. Just curious

    • Freelance Translator Tips says:

Thanks! I grew up in both countries actually, so I think I’m pretty much fluent in both.
