The candle bruning so close to the edge of the screen made me anxious 😉

  • Yuuri says:

I think I’ll steer clear from Upwork if I ever get into freelancing. Thank you for making these videos and sharing your knowledge so freely! As a freelancer, how do you handle it when you unexpectedly need time off (getting sick, family emergency, etc.)? What happens to the projects you were supposed to work on during that time?

    • Freelanceverse - Adrian Probst says:

Hi Mini, thans for the comment 🙂 good question, usually I finish the jobs I’m currently working on and then I just tell my biggest clients that I’m off and the rest will see it in a automated email response. I almost never work on very large projects over multiple days or even weeks/months, there it would be another question of course.

    • Yuuri says:

@Freelanceverse – Adrian Probst Thank you for the insight!

  • Sandra's Shelf says:

I absolutely love your videos! They’re so helpful! Keep up the good work! Truly inspiring.

  • Rostova здесь says:

I had the same experience, so I gave up with this idea 🙂 thank you for your video 🙂

  • Lisa Bonetti says:

Hello everyone. I just wanted to say that I managed to get started on upwork. It took me a long time but now I am top Rated and it is much easier. Its a platform that is really hard to get in, but once you are things are much easier. Would you be interested in me doing a video explaining how I made it work?

  • Vanessa Balistreri says:

Heyy, I have a question 🥺, if I started translating on proz and translatorscafe (English and Spanish) as a part-time job, how much could I approximately earn in a month? Thank you for your help!

    • Freelanceverse - Adrian Probst says:

Hi Vanessa, as a part time job you mean 50% or so? You can probably earn anywhere from 1,000-4,000$ a month, depending on your workload and success

    • Vanessa Balistreri says:

@Freelanceverse – Adrian Probst yes, thank you so much 🙏🏻

  • R S says:

Very good video with important practical information. Many thanks, and greetings from Virginia in the USA.

  • Jorge Esteban says:

    excellent work, Adrian.

  • Mariami says:

Thanks for sharing! I have a question. Can I work with different profiles on Upwork? For instance, as a Graphic Designer and Translator?

  • Faisal Aldweik says:

Hi! What do you think of those who contact u outside of Upwork and ask for a levy or refundable payment made by the translator himself?

    • Freelanceverse - Adrian Probst says:

I’ve never heard of that, but sounds a bit scammy if I have to be honest.

    • Francesca04 says:

That’s a big no! It’s against Terms of Service, you can get banned from Upwork, and most probably scammed! Don’t do that.

    • Faisal Aldweik says:

@Freelanceverse – Adrian Probst I do think so, too. I made a mistake of contacting them once and they’ve been all over my phone. I just blocked them.

  • Yuri Flores says:

Thank you for trying their website and making this video. It’s been extremely helpful.

  • N.B T says:

Thank you for the video and your honesty.

  • Adriana Miquilena says:

This video is from almost 2 years ago so probably someone already told you this but just in case: on Upwork when you clicked “no hires” on the filter “Client history”, it doesn’t mean what you think it means. It’s not that the client hasn’t hired anyone for that job that you’re applying for right now (if they had, the post wouldnt be up), it indicates if a client is new, like you, or if he or she has used the platform and actually hired someone for a past job before (that’s why it’s called history). The more hires a client has, the more trustworthy they are. So what you want to do is filter by number of PROPOSALS. If a job was posted 12 hours ago and already has 50 proposals, your chances of being seen are slim, but if you apply for a job that only has 5, maybe you’ll get noticed.

    • Freelanceverse - Adrian Probst says:

Thanks so much for the clarification 🙂 I haven’t used Upwork since this video, but this comment will definitely be helpful for many!

  • Geoffrey Howard Martin Black says:

I have worked on Upwork since 2009 and am very happy with it. Plenty of work and soli8d clients, plus money is guaranteed and paid very quickly.

  • Geoffrey Howard Martin Black says:

It took me 6 months to get my first job on Upwork, but now I charge $50 an hour there, and get job offers frequently. It is geared to people who have built a reputation on Upwork, but is well worth the effort.

  • Rosselena Albornoz says:

Thank you for sharing your experience with upwork! I,m looking forward to start translating as a freelance which is actually my professional degree! I am a English teacher and I am tired of that!

  • Carlos Bravo says:

You should definitely remake this experiment again! Upwork has changed a lot in the past two years, you can even say is more ”professional” and ”trustworthy” lol. I created my profile as a Spanish-English translator about two months ago, and I dare to say I’ve been doing pretty decent for someone who just started, as a matter of fact, I’ve only had three jobs on the platform so far, but still. It all depends on how much you know how Upwork works because it can be a little tricky if you don’t know anything about the website.
I really appreciate your video, I do! I thought I was the only one struggling at the translation niche, I’m still trying to figure out how this works out due to the fact I want to have some savings till I go to college. 😀

    • King Harvick ASMR says:

congratulations, im happy for you! i still havent got any jobs yet even tho i did everything right😭😭

    • Freelanceverse - Adrian Probst says:

Good to hear. I will not remake it though, I decided that I don’t want to work with these kind of platforms and therefore don’t want to promote it anymore 🙂

    • Maryam Lina says:

where did you learn to well use upwork ?
