To be fair, that was Ross’ attempt at a British accent. I think it’s likely that David Schwimmer’s British accent would be much better if he was actually playing a British character, but in this case, he was playing an American character with no accent training who was impulsively putting on a British accent because he was nervous.

What I struggle with most, as far as Brits go, is the way Southern Brits have been trying to distance themselves vehemently from the RP aspects of their accents. Why do Brits despise the compelling, literary beauty of that accent? OK, I understand it’s overtly posh, but it shouldn’t be eradicated, or consistently ridiculed as something necessarily pretentious. I’m calling the Royal Family now; we must put a stop to this—and I don’t mean a glottal stop!

He does one of the best American accents ever. People have been shocked to find out he was British.
There’s another language Youtuber, RobWords, and he’s British as well and his mannerisms and accent remind me of Austin Powers from time to time.
Don Cheadle is weird. Not because of the attempted accent, personally i’d call that passable. But because black US actors are always complaining that black British actors get all the (good) parts in films etc. So why would they hire a Yankee to play a Brit in this one? They could’ve got an actual accented Brit to speak those lines.

Mike Myers is britsh by his parents , even when he grew up in Canada. He intentionally placed his figure in the 60s.
I only got one person to guess that am German. It was a girl who had a German father who lived a long time in Kenia. She spotted my by saying you talk like my dad. I had an English teacher from England who told my I have no real German or American accent – but she couldn’t place it till she met my former ugandian boyfriend. Thats where my extra flavor comes from.
also, why do American shows or films insist on an English accent, but not use British English words? A Brit would never say: I brought him there. Brought him here, yes, but took him there

Also, one of the best British accent jokes I ever heard was from James Corden’s talk show. He was trying to set up a joke and it got stolen.
He said, “Do you know what we call Thanksgiving in England?” Of course he was gonna say, “Thursday.” But before he could say it, one of his American sidekicks said, “Fanksgiving?”
To be fair, I’m British born & raised and my accent is a bit all over the place at times. I grew up in London, so have a pretty typical middle class London accent, but I spent my teens in Gloucestershire/Worcestershire and every now and again a bit of that West Country slips in.
I’m English from the north. I’d never heard Russell Crowe’s accent before, I didn’t think it was as bad as people say. It has a kind of Nottinghamshire tone to it, that slightly northern slightly southern tone, like a posh person from Nottinghamshire, which I think is ok for Robin Hood. Better than an Aussie or American accent. People’s accents do naturally exist on a scale between lower class and posh
Oh dear, Kevin Costner’s accent in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is infamously bad even in the US. (So much so it was mocked in the Mel Brooks parody.)
I just noticed that when Tree es says “ten” as in “ten soldiers” he sounds like he’s from Texas!
