The word “Jien” reminds me a lot of the french word “Je”
Yeah, the etymology I found for the word says that it comes from Arabic anā, but I said to some of the participants that it seems to me like it might have also been influenced by Sicilian iu/jù. Words do sometimes have a dual etymology like that.
Maltese, Arabic with Latin alphabet.
And a lot of Sicilian & Italian words (though not in this sentence).
I wonder if there are common Maltese names that are Arabic derived
I’m a non native speaker of Arabic and found Maltese really easy to decipher when I read a few sample passages. Really interesting to see an Arabic language in Latin script
Please make a series about names and last names 🔥🔥🔥
What do you mean? Explaining the etymology and meaning behind names?
Hey Langfocus! Can you please tell me the music you used in the maltese video at the start when talking about the language
Maltese is a very interesting language
It is nice you acknowledge languages like these that are not spoken much
Super stuff!
I so enjoy your podcasts. You’re so knowledgeable. I realize that your success requires extensive study in, and the actual speaking of languages. You have practiced these styles of speech worked hard at your profession.👏 👏
Just want to take a minute to appreciate all effort that goes into your production values. The slides on top and bottom, subtitles, the way the words are highlighted in various colours to make it easy to follow along, and even the animation in some of your other videos.
Thanks! I work very hard on that, so it’s nice when people recognize it.
