This is a "reboot", meaning that I made a completely new video on a topic I made a video about back in 2015. This one is much better and much more in-depth.

Special thanks to Eden (a native speaker of Hebrew) and Mahmoud (a native speaker of Palestinian Arabic) for appearing in this video!

And an extra special thanks to all of you patrons for helping to make Langfocus possible:

Lol a colonial fictional language that has nothing to do with ancient hebrew, “revived” by german linguists using arabic dictionaries and grammar and spoken now by khazarian eastern europeans, even the pronunciation is not similar to other real ancient “semitic” languages, full of khhhhh sound , khachochim khakhokhim khichakhom but khaaaaaaamas

    • @nimrodlevy says:

Dude, no, Hebrew never stopped being thought and spoken as a second language… Modern hebrew speaker can read and understand 70% of biblical hebrew, contemporary 7th century ostrecones, phonecian and even ugarit. Dude your knowledge is lacking. No German linguist revied hebrew, the people revived it. For the missing verbs they turned to arabic as it and aramaic was the closest semitic languages they knew apart from ethiopian – some words in hebrew in everyday speach are tracable to sumerian that the german linguist also invented. Dude the fact that you hate jews doesn’t changes history, we’re not pigs and monkeys.

  • @AduckButSpain says:

Oh wow, I can’t wait! The last one is indeed quite old quality-wise. I’m a Hebrew speaker and I’ve learned for years literature Arabic, but unfortunately, it’s really difficult to find a good place to learn Levantine Arabic.

    • @TheBreadB says:

Aren’t there Arabs in Israel who speak Levantine Arabic?

    • @Langfocus says:

The books everyone recommends for Palestinian Arabic are those by J. Elihay. There are lots of other courses that teach some kind of Levantine, but often Lebanese, Syrian, or Jordanian (which is close to Palestinian Arabic because the majority are Palestinian).

    • @AduckButSpain says:

      Obviously

No offense Paul, but for the vast majority of people learning a language from books, especially by themselves it’s incredibly hard. Particularly for adults.

    • @NilfgardianNationalist says:

@TheBreadB there are a lot of Arabs. Not everyone feels comfortable talking to them after… recent events.

  • @jackjohnson1072 says:

I am so looking forward to this video. I know both languages!

  • @LingoLizard says:

FROM RIVER TO SEA, PALESTINE WILL BE FREE! 🇵🇸 🇵🇸 🇵🇸

  • @Connie_TinuityError says:

What was wrong with the original video to the point that you got round to rebooting it? The original video was already fine enough for its intents and purposes?

    • @Langfocus says:

The video from 2015? It was absolutely not up to my current standards. I mean in terms of production, the script, my delivery, and the depth of content. This new one is a much better video.

If you mean my video from around 2019 about Arabic Influence on Modern Hebrew, I still like that one (though it has a couple mistakes in it). That’s a different topic from this video.

  • @Moon_Dancers says:

Both Semitic languages so ofcourse similarities – as an Arabic speaker I recognize many words when I hear Hebrew. HOWEVER, from my understanding the modern day Hebrew is far from original Hebrew

    • @NilfgardianNationalist says:

Hebrew native here. Old and modern Hebrew are not that different. Every modern native can understand the vast majority of the Bible for example.

    • @user-sh3cf7kd6e says:

That is absolutely not true. Biblical Hebrew, for instance, is far more intelligible for Modern Hebrew speakers than 17th century Early Modern English for Modern English speakers.

    • @thecountofmarsi says:

Yes you are right Modern Hebrew is a reconstructed language , we do not have the phonetics of the original Hebrew language ,
So no one can speak it , The Hebrews came out of the Amorite tribes so it would be a Northwest Semitic language ,
But Amoritic & original Hebrew are both extinct languages

    • @Moon_Dancers says:

@@thecountofmarsi thank you, I was told modern Hebrew is a mix of Yiddish and Arabic. I don’t find it as beautiful as Aramaic, Assyrian, Maltese, Arabic etc

    • @thecountofmarsi says:

@@Moon_Dancers It is Yiddish & Arabic plus some Aramaic and words they just made up , it is a creole language made by European Jews that went there in the 1890″s

  • @GeographyKing says:

Be careful, man. I posted a video about the geography of Israel and Palestine. Just talking about the rivers, lakes, mountains, climate, etc. There was no politics, no discussion of the war at all, and YouTube still demonetized the video and temporarily shadow banned the channel.

    • @thekidfromiowa says:

The bots know nothing of context. They just detect trigger words and execute their punishment in black and white terms. Equal parts Orwellian and Kafkaesque.

    • @Langfocus says:

Did they re-monetize it after a manual review?

    • @chefnyc says:

The video gets the views from the actual audience in the first 2-3 days. A manual review won’t end up in back pay. I am guessing no ads are shown over a video that is demonitized.

    • @Langfocus says:

@chefnyc Yes, that’s right. I’ve been doing this for a long time so I’ve been through that kind of thing before. There are ways to avoid it, beginning with the content itself. But also, setting this up as a premiere in advance gives me time to see if there are issues with monetization before the video goes live. But on Youtube, you never know for sure what will happen.

    • @GeographyKing says:

@@Langfocus Yes, but only after I disabled the comments.

  • @modmaker7617 says:

Remember, when this Canadian made a video in Japanese teaching Arabic to a Japanese-speaking audience like it was a class in a Japanese school?

    That was hilarious.

  • @ダニエル-x5d says:

Hebrew is basically the superior version of Arabic.

  • @donnie1725 says:

    Super excited for this one!

  • @hebreophone says:

איזה כיף! בטוח שהסרטון יהיה מעולה. תודה מראש, פול!

  • @todesque says:
