I would suggest first finding a definition of cedolare secca in Italian to understand what it means. Just looking up the translation in a context dictionary doesn’t help because many official sources are full of inaccuracies.

    • Freelance Translator Tips says:

That’s a good point. I often find myself doing precisely that, on the Treccani or the dizionari.repubblica.it online dictionaries. Although these will obviously only work with Italian. Different languages will have different websites for these.

I’m a little late to the party, but if anyone is looking for an Arabic translation resource, https://www.almaany.com/ is an excellent one. You can look up both definitions in Arabic as well as translations into various languages, and see how others have translated a particular word or phrase. There are mistakes sometimes, but overall it’s a good place to check first when I’m not sure about the translation of a word.

I also like to keep thesaurus.com open when I’m translating, for when I can remember *a* translation for a word but not *the* perfect translation; the obvious caveat is to not be tempted to sub in a synonym just because- I never use a word unless I already knew what it meant before I saw it in the thesaurus.

    • Freelance Translator Tips says:

Hey thanks! Great resource! Unfortunately Arabic is not one of my languages so I don’t know any resources for it even though I know it is in high demand.
