This video is all about the Egyptian dialect of Arabic (specifically the Cairo dialect, and more generally northern Egypt). Egyptian Arabic is well-known across the Arab World because of Egypt's dominant position in Arab Media and entertainment throughout the 20th century (and to some extent still today). But it has numerous distinct features that set it apart from Modern Standard Arabic and from other varieties.
Special thanks to Omar Allam El Sayed for his Arabic audio samples and suggestions!

Hi, everyone! I hope you enjoy the video. 🚩If you’re learning Arabic and you don’t want to limit yourself to formal Modern Standard Arabic, check out *Talk in Arabic* : ▶https://bit.ly/speak-arabic-dialects ◀ It’s the only resource of its kind, where you can learn all the major dialects of Arabic in one place. Finally, Paul!
I have a feeling that this is going to be full of passion and devotion to our Egyptian native dialect.
Yes, it is! 🙂
Finally Paul!
I wonder if you will mention the impact of Coptic on the structure of Egyptian Arabic
Yes, I mention it.
Yay! I love learning about the dialects of Arabic, it’s so interesting I can’t wait.
i have been quite interested in the varieties of arabic recently so this’ll be intriguing
Hello, Paul!
I always love your video.
Hi, Langfocus
Thank you for your honest and great content. I am a big fan of you and your content.
Please, can you make a video about Beria (Zaghawa Language) …. I am a Native speaker and i will supply you with all necessary imformation…
My great fear in this life is the death of my mother tongue !!😢
a very long overdue video, but better late than never
If the channel was only focused on Arabic I would have done it a long time ago, but different viewers are all waiting for different topics.
@@Langfocus No I mean for me personally, seeing a video from this specific channel on this specific topic has been something I was waiting for for a very long time
I have applied to the best of my abilities the things i learned from you here when analyzing languages to the topic and came up with why everything from vocabulary to a totally different grammar and sentence structure; and even the incompatible pronunciation of letters (arabic letters that egyptians can’t pronounce and letters that egyptians pronounce but do not exist in arabic and so on)
but hearing it from the expert has got to be a treat when the video is up
Been waiting for this one for ages!
As an Egyptian fan of Langfocus… I’ve been waiting for this for SO LONG 😊
وأنا كمان يخويا أحلى مسا على كل مصري هنا❤🇪🇬
Every summer I take a trip to Egypt to vacation. So I wait the video as well
Same here
أحلي مسا عليك يا شق ❤
Coptic//Arabic Mashup
Yay!! I’m learning Arabic and I can’t wait 😊
The Egyptian dialect in my opinion represents a great compilation of the Egyptian history with loanwords from: Coptic/ Italian/ french/ Greek/ English/ Turkish even Nubian and Amazigh languages depends on the place that you are in. it represents the ages that Egypt has been through. it’s a fact that every language reflects their people history and culture ❤🇪🇬
Hmm, definitely seems like an interesting video Paul! I’m sure they’ll be a lot to talk about here, from the various empires they conquered Egypt and the influence of the Copts; I’m sure it’ll make for an intriguing episode!
Looking forward to this one!
We’re waiting about tajiki, and I can help you about its own features🇹🇯
السلام عليكم!
I was waiting for this
Hi, Paul! Will you show us a Syrian dialect too? ❤
