Wow! This is amazing. This will be a powerful tool for keeping up your speaking skills and gaining confidence speaking in your target language. Well done!!

  • @Fantosofthelight says:

I respect that you were also not afraid to show the app’s imperfections. It certainly looks promising; I’m excited to see what it could deliver in the future!

  • @xiaomanyc says:

Great video Olly! But I’m a little disappointed that you used AI to generate yourself speaking such perfect Spanish, Portuguese, French, and German. 😂

  • @OtHaku says:

I’ve been using IA (written) and it has helped me a lot with the anxiety. I mean, I have anxiety disorder. So it’s not a small problem for me. I’m glad these tools are being made.

  • @gringotolatino says:

This is absolutely amazing! Total game changer for people who can only find certain times to practice. You guys are using AI for good. Thank you!

  • @hamarana says:

Rapaz, fiquei surpreso ! Your portuguese is Level A ! congrats

  • @graj0 says:

Having reached the grand old age of 71 and having poor memory, I’ve been trying to learn French as a way of exercising my brain a bit. Creating Flashcards has helped but takes time. Teacher AI is a game changer and I’ve already started to try it out. Very impressed so far.

  • @samstromberg5593 says:

Been looking through a bunch of the comments of people asking for features that you guys are still working on and will take time and just wanted to say
I think it’s great that you released it before all of that was ready. You’ll get better feedback and know better what will be helpful to the people using it, but it’s also just a great tool already. And I think it’s great that you made it avaliable now, being completely transparent that it wasn’t really ready yet and we could use it anyway
    So thanks 🙂

  • @christinehydon4436 says:

This is absolutely superb, Olly. I can not wait to see how far you can take this.

  • @nealer52 says:

Looks like a great tool, I am really afraid to lose my Catalán so I would love to practice that there. It would be awesome if you could add that language!

  • @paulwalther5237 says:

I’ve been curious about speaking practice with AI for a while. Your video isn’t the first on the topic. But while I think Chat GPT may be ready to go if you’re looking to type messages, I don’t know if the computer will understand my accented speech well enough to make this a pleasant experience. The only AI chat bot I’ve tried was basically turning on text to speech for Chat GPT and the voice to text for me. It was interesting but I stopped after a few minutes. I figured I’d wait for a developed product like you’re doing here. Again, it’s really important that it understand American accented Korean.. think it can?

  • @realgeorge says:

Olly, do you and Xiaoma envision a feature that grades the student? For example, grading a student at a CEFR level or grading a student’s mastery of a core vocabulary, grammar, etc. This could be valuable and motivational feedback for the student. It could also allow, say, high school language teachers to get a school account and assign language lab work with this amazing tool.

    • @GettNumber says:

CEFR is pretty comprehensive and it’s hard to grade hearing, in particular, with AI voices. maybe in the future when more natural voices and sentences are able to be generated will CEFR grading be possible, but generally that seems like a solidly human task for now

  • @Aadrian7 says:

This is really impressive especially in Portuguese. I can’t wait to practice my German with it and get my speaking to be more fluid.

  • @simon-white says:

This has massively increased the amount I’m speaking, far beyond what I could manage before. It’s scary how close it sounds to your voice Olly, I almost feel guilty for taking up too much of “your” time 😂

  • @taylortrent5568 says:

been using teacher AI for several months now and it’s been fantastic. some of us are very introverted and the idea of talking to strangers in our native language is already challenging enough! just tested the olly clone and your english accent sounds very american 🤣🤣

  • @baeticus9790 says:

I’m learning spanish and it’s crazy that while listening to the portugues and French, I somehow catch myself understanding parts of the conversation due to the similarities. I guess I know which languages to learn next

  • @nette4307 says:

Kudos on your German, Olly! Deutsche Sprache, Schwere Sprache 🙂 No, seriously – this really could be the game changer so many of us have been looking for, and I for one am looking forward to when you launch this. I bought your French course more than a year ago, realized that my German wasn’t quite good enough for my new life here in Germany, and therefore put French on the back burner. Yesterday, I started up my French journey and am surprised by how much kana/haven’t forgotten from my highschool days. An AI language tool designed by you will make a real difference for your fellow language lovers! Thanks so much for sharing the news!

  • @thestoicgreyhound says:

Hi Olly, this is an amazing outcome and I’m super keen to try it. Would you consider having Latin as an option in the future? It would be epic to see ScorpioMartianus as a teacher!

  • @bartgroothuizen5575 says:

My schedule is really packed, so I can’t easily use other speaking apps with real people. I think this is a great addition to a learning curve. You can try some things you’ve learned and when you have the time talk to real people in the languague. I’ll surely going to use this in the coming year! Great work! 👏
